The return of autumn coolness marks a strong rebound in leafy greens across European markets. The 2026 season looks particularly favorable, with well-regulated temperatures in September across Morocco’s Gharb plains and the Almería greenhouses, pointing to volumes up 9% across the full campaign.
Spinach
Baby leaf spinach and spinach shoots continue their growth in ready-to-use bags. Demand from institutional catering and retail chains remains very strong, driven by health and convenience trends. Moroccan lots are displaying an intense green color and remarkably tender texture this year.
Chard and Mesclun
White-stemmed and rainbow chard are making a comeback, buoyed by the rise of vegetarian cuisine. Mediterranean mesclun — a blend of rocket, lamb’s lettuce, radicchio and frisée — is meeting growing demand from specialty grocers and organic box delivery platforms.
