Peppers: A Season Full of Color

Red, yellow, orange — Moroccan peppers are flooding Europe this summer. An analysis of the season's key varieties and consumption trends.

· by Alaska Export Team

The 2026 pepper season confirms Morocco’s rise as an indispensable supplier to the European market. Exports are expected to grow by 9%, driven by favorable growing conditions in the Souss-Massa and Agadir regions.

Red and Yellow Peppers

The Lamuyo and Yolo Wonder varieties are producing fleshy, smooth-skinned, glossy fruits this year that fully meet the quality specifications of major retail buyers. Per-hectare yields are 7% above the five-year average.

Sweet Long Peppers

Corno di Toro-type sweet peppers are rapidly gaining market share in foodservice and specialty retail. Their sweet flavor and high dry matter content make them a highly sought-after premium product.
